Cozy's Refuge

SMALL BREED DOG AND PUPPY RESCUE I am a local resident that has always wandered why are there so many dogs beside the road, so i've decided to try to do something about it, instead of wondering why someone doesn't. I have been working hard for about two years and have found many homeless dogs,a forever home. I have a great love for animals and find helping them is rewarding, yet hard and expensive. I do this by myself ,at my own expense, so if you would like to help in anyway please call. I have been able to get some transport help to take dogs to other states where law requires animals to be spayed and neutered ,therefore they are not running along side the roads as they are here, and people give good homes to pets and feel fortunate to have them.

Ditty Dats & Dogs Rescue

Ditty Dats & Dogs Rescue works to save the lives of wonderful pets from rural and high-kill animal shelters. We also strive to reduce the over-population of dogs and cats by spaying and neutering all rescued pets. We opened our virtual doors for rescue work in the summer of 2007. We are an all volunteer non-profit group that works tirelessly to help save the lives of pets in need. We have no facility, so all of our rescues live in foster homes until approved adoptive homes can be fo

Hampshire County Animal Control

We adopt out to the nearby West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania regions. If you live outside this area, please contact Amber for more information. Shelter volunteers and staff evaluate each animal through regular interaction at the shelter or in foster care. This interaction gives us a better understanding of the animal’s reaction to new situations and people thus allowing us to tell the potential adopter as much as possible about the animal. We can also advise the adopter if a specific animal will be suitable for the adopter’s family

Hancock County Animal Shelter

The Hancock County Animal Shelter is a county facility managed by the Hancock County Animal Shelter Foundation, a non-profit 501c3 organization. Founded in 1991, the Foundation worked to raise money for the construction of a new county shelter to replace the outdated facility then being used. Today, the shelter is run in a humane manner. Incoming animals are assessed, vaccinated, and wormed. All animals are spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter.

HillHaven Animal Sanctuary Rescue Inc

We are a small, nonprofit 501(c)3 animal sanctuary and rescue group made up of very dedicated volunteers and foster families in the north central WV area. We formed in 2001, and have been working with the feral cat popluation and special needs animals in our area. Some of our sanctuary animals are blind, like Chance, the dalmation that was dumped at a local pound three years ago, and Bart, Drew, and Mitchell, our cats that have tested positive for the FIV virus. These wonderful cats are doing well here with us, and are very happy to be here rather than in the pound, where their illness would have been an automatic death senctence. We rescue as many animals as we have the funds and space to care for. Hillhaven is a no-kill sanctuary, and our animals will have a safe haven with us for their lifetime. As our adoptable animals go to their forever homes, we have the space available to rescue another one from death row. We are a private sanctuary, and do not operate as a traditional shelter. Due to the many animals we have had dumped on our doorstep, sanctuary visits are now done by invatition, and only AFTER your application has been completed and approved. Please allow 24-48 hours for your calls to be returned.
