The Addison County Humane Society serves Addison County by taking in stray and homeless animals, providing temporary shelter and care, and placing these animals into lifelong, loving homes. We've served this community since 1975 and provide shelter and placement to hundreds of animals every year.

We are a "no-kill" shelter, meaning we do not euthanize animals for space and ensure every adoptable animal a permanent home. We typically operate at roughly 120% of capacity because there are so many animals that need our help. Our work however does not end here. Humane education and spay/neuter programs are critical in our efforts to address Addison County's pet overpopulation problem and improve companion animal welfare.
