Paws and Claws

Our goal is to place as many pets in forever homes as possible and educate our community about the importance of spaying/neutering and routine healthcare: such as yearly vaccinations, once-a-year heartworm testing and monthly heartworm prevention and flea control. We also stress the importance of microchipping your pets so that they can always find their way home!

Florida Great Pyrenees Club

The Florida Great Pyrenees Club (FGPC) was formed in April, 1997, as a regional club. From that original meeting, at which there were about a dozen people, we have grown to more than 200 members. We now have members from Miami to Tallahassee! Our primary goals are: (1) to maintain and further the integrity of the breed; (2) to hold regular club meetings, matches, public education, and fun activities for members; (3) to exchange ideas regarding care, behavior, training, health, and breeding for Pyrs; and (4) to be active in Great Pyrenees rescue. Our club became affiliated with the Great Pyrenees Club of America (GPCA) in December 1999. We recently completed our incorporation as a non-profit Florida corporation, and we are currently working toward formal AKC affiliation and endorsement

Animal Services of Gilchrist County

Gilchrist County Animal Services is an Animal Shelter that takes in unwanted or stray pets. This is a kill facility at the present time. The policy for this facility is to hold all animals for six working days, after which, the animal may be adopted or destroyed humanely. We encourage all animal owners to identify your pets with the owners name and telephone number, rabies tag and/or micro chip. We at Animal Services scan for chipped animals with Avid Scanners, so if found, we can reunite pet and owner.

Humane Society of Gilchrist County Inc.

We are a NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL Humane Society and function on donations only. We need donations to help all the animals, and to continue to fund our free spay/neuter vouchers program for the public. To date we have not had to destroy any abuse or rescue animals. We have brought back to health and saved every single one. Considering the near death condtion some of them were in, we feel this is a GREAT accomplishment!

Feisty Acres Inc.

Feisty Acres is a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue organization serving Marion, Alachua, Citrus and Levy counties in North Central Florida. We receive no government funding; we are supported exclusively by donations. The animals you will see here have come from a variety of situations: Some were strays for whom an owner could not be found. Some were purposely abandoned. Some were brought to us by owners who could no longer keep them or no longer wanted them. Some were referred to us by local veterinarians. Some came from other shelters where they would have been euthanized. What they all have in common is that they need loving homes.
