Grundy County Humane Society/DANE911Are you interested in adopting a "rescued" Great Dane or in knowing more information about them? Here's a summary of what we do and a phone number to call... We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are contacted by humane societies, animal control facilities, and individuals interested in placing Danes of assorted ages into new homes. We arrange to see the dogs to help check temperatment, and we take them to a veterinary facility for fecal and heartworm checks, shots, spay or neuters, and micro chipping before placing them into new homes. We do not provide dogs for breeding purposes. We interview interested families over the phone to fill out information sheets about their circumstances with housing, children, other pets, amount of yard, exercise, or walking which can be provided. This enables us to attempt to place the dog, as it becomes available, not by the order in which you enroll with us, but by the best "fit" for the dog. Expect to pay approximately $600.00 for a rescued Dane. We hold this donation a week until we see that the dog is fitting in with its new family. Then the donation is used to fund the medical expenses for the next dog. We are happy to talk about medical, feed, or other problems you may have with your adopted Dane, and we ask you to sign a contract agreeing to alert us in future if you have questions or problems with your dog. We provide information on gastric torsion and bloat in large dog breeds and discuss and require that you are prepared to keep the dog on heartworm preventative monthly as treating heartworm is expensive, time consuming, and very stressful for dogs and owners. We do not breed or sell puppies. We will be happy to try to put you in conact with reputable breeders who x-ray for genetic problems, use spay and neuter contracts on pet quality dogs, and who are "responsible" for helping readopt their own dogs that must be returned for some reason. Shih Tzu Rescue, Adoption and Education Safehouse (S.T.R.A.E.S.)We are an all volunteer, not for profit, no kill, humane organization established to provide shelter, care and an adoption program for abandoned and relinquished purebred Shih Tzu. We also accept orphaned small/toy breed dogs with injuries and medical ailments that are costly to treat and who would otherwise be scheduled to die providing the extraordinary medical care they need for a second chance at life and a loving home. All dogs are kept in a licensed shelter with a cageless, home-like environment and access to over two fenced-in acres where the dogs can run free. Our Shih Tzu are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, current on annual innoculations and monthly heartworm preventative and have an AVID Friendchip identification implant. Complete veterinarian checks are done on all incoming pets and any necessary special tests, medical and/or surgical procedures are provided. Each resident also receives regularly scheduled grooming care and parasite treatments. All dogs are temperament and personality tested so potential new owners can be matched with a dog that will best suit their expectations and lifestyle. Followup assistance is provided to help the Shih Tzu and new caregiver through the transition period. We provide breed specific and general educational materials for Shih Tzu owners, or potential owners, as well as consultation and training services. Saints Amoung Us - Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue"Saints Among Us", Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue, affiliated with the National Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping abandoned, abused, homeless, and relinquished Saints find a "forever home". ISBR is run solely by volunteers who have a great love for the breed and the dedication to help save them. Our volunteers put in countless hours and travel great distances, to ensure that these wonderful Saints find loving forever homes and are not destroyed. Because we are a rescue group, we do not have "shelter" where the animals are housed. We provide temporary, loving foster homes for all of our dogs until they are placed in their new homes. The dogs are fully vaccinated, sterilized, micro-chipped, parasite, and heartworm free. They are also temperament tested in a variety of situations. Most dogs are 18 months and older. We occasionally get puppies under one year of age.
