Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue, Inc.

Gulf Coast Doberman Rescue, Inc. is a group of Doberman fanciers dedicated to the care and well being of the Doberman breed. We cover central and south Louisiana as well as the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Most of us have been involved with Dobermans for years. Some of us are involved with showing in conformation as well as obedience, agility, search and rescue and pet assisted therapy. We are always more than happy to answer any questions you may have about this breed. We understand that our application process may seem lengthy and at times intrusive. We do not mean to appear threatening or judgemental. We simply want the best for these Dobermans. Your taking the time to answer the questions on the adoption application honestly and completely is appreciated. It allows us to use our extensive knowledge and experience with this breed to find the dog that is best suited for your individual needs and situation. A proper match between dog and owner leads to a lifetime of happiness!

Looziana Basset Rescue

Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer effort to save abandoned and mistreated basset hounds for the love of the breed. Our rescued bassets are from shelters all over Louisiana and Mississippi, are strays whose owners cannot be found, or are relinquished by owners who no longer want them. Changing lifestyles, the economy, and lack of responsibility are some of the reasons for the abundance of abandoned basset hounds. Looziana Basset Rescue takes the orphaned bassets into foster care, where they are loved and cared for until permanent adoptive homes can be found. We provide veterinary care that includes vaccinations, heartworm treatment if necessary, and spaying or neutering. We completely rehabilitate, both physically and emotionally, any adoptable dog and prepare him/her for a "forever home."

Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter

We are the animal shelter for Terrebonne Parish. We pick up stray animals throughout the parish and we accept unwanted pets from Terrebonne Parish residents. Strays picked up by animal control have SEVEN days in our shelter. Owner surrenders are kept according to how much space the shelter has at that point in time. The shelter is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and closed on major holidays. Adoptions are based primarily on applications. We try to match the animal to the most suitable home. It then goes by first come (and approved), first adopt. Spay/Neuter deposits are as follows: Male Cats/Kittens are $15.00 Female Cats/Kittens are $25.00 Male Dogs/Puppies are $30.00 Female Dogs/Puppies are $35.00 This is only a deposit that will be credited towards the vet bill to have the animal spayed/neutered. New owners are responsible for the remainder of the vet bill at the time of spay/neuter. All adult animals must be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption and all puppies/kittens must be spayed/neutered when of proper age (5-6 months). The new owner must take the animal to the vet within 3 days of adoption for a vet check and vaccinations for the animal. Most of the animals have not been seen by a vet because the shelter has no veterinarian on staff. Also, a $2.00 licensing fee will apply to each animal adopted.

Pawprints and Purrs, Inc.

Pawprints and Purrs, Inc. (P&PI) is a small all volunteer, animal non-profit rescue organization located in Keithville, Louisiana. We provide an animal educational service to the public by teaching the prevention of animal cruelty, pet guardianship responsibility, and basic cat and dog health care. Our rescue and adoption work is primarily taking an active part in TNR and assisting other feral cat care givers with the socializing, fostering, adopting, and transporting kittens and cats to their new forever homes in our immediate area. We strongly emphasize the value of rescuing and re-homing abandoned, neglected and homeless felines. We assist those in need by providing rescue, shelter, medical care, and locating permanent homes. Our work directly supports the reduction of the "kill solution" for these homeless animal companions.

Animal Rights for Life

ANIMAL RIGHTS FOR LIFE (ARFL), a Non-Profit Organization founded in 1985 by Gloria Trelles Ripple, is dedicated to the welfare and placement of COMPANION animals. Each rescued animal by ARFL's dedicated volunteers receives a vet check, all vaccines, de-worming, de-fleaing and spay/neuter. Dogs are heartworm tested and cats are FeLV/FIV tested. Many have required medical attention, AND have not been denied, such as heartworm treatments and surgeries. We operate out of the pockets of our members and raffles that we sponsor, along with a few small donations made by some of the people who adopt our pets. ARFL's policy is that no animal should ever be killed for want of a good home. Based on this policy, many have found comfort in a forever home with a family to call their own.

Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control

Tangi Adopt A Rescue (TAAR) -is a non-profit companion animal rescue and adoption service located in Amite, LA. We foster and place cats and dogs who have been surrendered by their owners, abandoned, or are at risk of being euthanized by the local animal shelter. We are an all volunteer organization with no paid employees, officers, or directors. 100% of your donation goes toward food, medical and adoption costs of the animals. Your donations allow us to rescue more homeless animals and educate people about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. Tangi Adopt A Rescue has adopted many dogs & cats, kittens and puppies into new homes over the years. However, we can't do it alone. You can help by being a foster parent for a needy cat or dog. Foster care consists of providing a safe, loving home for a homeless pet until a permanent home can be found.
