Chinese Shar Pei Rescue of Michigan

With shelters and pounds available for unwanted or surplus dogs, why is there a need for breed rescue groups? In an ideal world every dog would have a safe and loving home for its entire lifetime. Sadly, we do not live in that ideal world. All kinds of dogs end up in shelters and the shelters have all they can do to find homes for even a small percentage of them. Purebred rescue groups help to ensure that dogs of the breed they love receive a good chance at a better life. We can usually hold dogs longer than a public shelter and often can devote greater resources to individual dogs because we have fewer dogs to deal with. Our experience with the Shar-Pei gives us an advantage over the public shelter when it comes to assessing each dog's temperament. Also many prospective owners may prefer to obtain a dog from an expert of the specific breed they are interested in.

Chippewa County Animal Control Shelter

The Chippewa County Animal Control Shelter is a county managed animal shelter. The shelter is maintained by one full-time and two part-time dedicated shelter attendants who, first and foremost, put the health and care of the dogs, puppies, cats and kittens as their primary concern. Although no public animal shelter finds it easy to maintain a no kill policy, we are VERY PROUD that we adhere to strict directives where euthanasia is concerned. Very stringent protocol has been adopted where loss of animal life is considered

Closer to Home Animal Advocates

Closer to Home Animal Advocates (CTHAA) is a group of caring individuals who work to find forever homes for Norwegian Elkhounds, Siberian Huskies, and sometimes other breeds as our hearts lead us. We are dedicated to placing dogs that have been abandoned, neglected, or whose present homes cannot keep them any longer. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative medication. CTHAA strives to find the best match between the dog and the new forever home. Our goal is to place each dog into a permanent home where it will become a loved and cared for member of the household. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes.

Cocker Spaniel Club of Mid Michigan Inc

Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Mid-Michigan is Sponsored by Mid-Michigan Cocker Spaniel Club of Lansing, Inc. The Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Mid-Michigan has been established in memory of Thomas Gallant, a long time member of Mid-Michigan Cocker Spaniel Club. He, along with his wife Nancy, developed an outstanding breeding and showing program, which produced over 47 champion and obedience titled Cocker Spaniels. Tom and Nancy have assisted "new-comers" to Cocker Spaniels, to grow in their own expertise, and to fully ascribe to the goals of MMCSC. Tom was truly dedicated to the betterment of Cocker Spaniels. Through the Rescue program, his love of these little dogs can be shown by giving them a second chance at a happy tail wagging life!
