Charlotte Cocker Rescue of NC

Charlotte Cocker Rescue was started in 2001 by Larry and Donna Carpenter. Our rescue mission is helping homeless cocker spaniels from North Carolina shelters, sometimes strays and owner give ups. Our focus is mostly shelter animals as they only have limited time to either get adopted, reclaimed by owners or rescued by rescue groups such as ours. We began our dream in 2001 after taking in our Charlie from WV and adopting our Sam from MD. We were shocked how many homeless cocker spaniels there were in shelters. We are searching for volunteers, foster homes, who will be dedicated to our rescue mission. Our vet is Cabarrus Animal Hospital for which we have been a loyal client since 1991 and they have the best vets on duty there. They have done wonderful vet care for our own animals and rescue kids for many years.

City of Rocky Mount Animal Control

The answer is a combination of personnel and city supervision. The Rocky Mount Animal Shelter is a division of the Police Department but the Animal Control/Shelter personnel are civilian. Our policy is to hold dogs and cats for seven days when picked up stray or at large instead of the three days required by state law. We also do not have a set time or day of week for euthanization. We pride ourselves on the fact that we only put down when we have to. Unfortunately however it is still way to often. We receive full support from our supervisors as long as we remain fiscally responsible.

Collie Rescue of the Carolinas

We realize there are good homes for Collies in states other than the Carolinas and have no objections to out of state adoptions. However when a match is made, the prospective adopter must be willing to travel to meet the Collie and take him or her home. We will work very closely during the adoption process to suggest a Collie that will fit in at your home.
