Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue Network - North EastWe are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a NATIONAL network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need. We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between. Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairns life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairns personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle. YONKERS ANIMAL SHELTERWe are a municipal shelter run by the City of Yonkers. We are open daily Monday through Friday 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 12:00 noon to 3:30 PM. We are interested in finding permanent homes for all of our pets. These animals are asking for a chance to show you their affection and love. If you are interested in a pet please give our animals a chance. Potential adopters are required to fill out our pre-adoption form. You can do this at the shelter or, if you want to speed up the process, download it here and complete it before you visit us. All animals will be spayed/neutered through the adoption fee. We have no shelter of our own, so we foster and board all of our animals until we can find them loving homes. We rescue our animals from the streets of New York City (and surrounding areas) and from local kill shelters.
