APAWS Animal Protectiuon and Welfare Society

Who We Are A.P.A.W.S. (Animal Protection And Welfare Society) is an all volunteer group of people who are dedicated to ensuring that all pet animals in and around the Baton Rouge area live in homes which provide for all of the animal's physical and emotional needs (including daily maintenance, medical care and nurturing) for the animal's lifetime. Some volunteers provide food, shelter and love in their homes to cats and dogs who have been injured, abandoned or thrown away. Others help by transporting the animals to veterinarian appointments, volunteering on Adoption Days, participating in fund raising activities, mailings, publicity efforts and public education. Because we receive no external funding, we rely on fund raising efforts and donations to fund our efforts. Your unwanted items can help support unwanted animals. APAWS is now affiliated with "HERE TODAY GONE TOMORROW" thrift store on Burbank drive in Baton Rouge. Items may be donated MONDAY - SATURDAY between the hours of 9:00- 4:00. Simply designate sale proceeds to benefit APAWS. APAWS will receive 50% of sale proceeds! It's that easy! So clean out those closets! Go through the kid's clothes, empty out that garage! Unwanted items help unwanted animals Sale of just $20 of items will provide APAWS with $$ for a rabies shot... Sale of $60 will spay/neuter a homeless animal! Clean up and help out!

Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS)

Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) is an all-volunteer non-profit humane society devoted to the prevention of animal suffering. CAAWS has been serving the people and animals of Baton Rouge since 1979 by placing cats and dogs in loving homes and educating the public about responsible pet ownership. CAAWS is not a shelter, but an adoption agency, which places animals in foster homes until they are adopted. In this way we try to prepare the animals for the experience of living in a home environment. We are a no-kill humane society. We also provide a service to the public by allowing people with unwanted animals to put their pets up for adoption at our facility. Potential adopters of both foster and public animals are thoroughly screened and interviewed before being allowed to adopt.

Louisiana Boxer Rescue

Louisiana Boxer Rescue has grown over the past 12 years from one woman rescuing boxers from the streets and shelters of New Orleans, to include several active members and foster homes across the state. The philosophy of Louisiana Boxer Rescue is not to provide Boxers to the public. Our main focus is the dog itself and finding the appropriate forever home for that dog. Rescue applications seem almost like human adoption forms, but that is because we want to place the dog into a loving home where he will live out his natural life.
