HARRY A BISZANTZ MEMORIAL CENTER FOR THOROUGHBRED RETIREMENT (Aka)TRANQUILITY FARM

Artists We're Accredited! Find out more October 15, 2005 Our 2006 Calendar has arrived! Click here for details. September 9, 2005 The career of a racehorse is as hard and fast as the competitions they sprint in. Click here for full story. On an early spring morning in 1998 Cobra Farm owner Gary Biszantz met Thoroughbred retirement advocate Priscilla Clark at the gate of an abandoned horse farm situated in the mountain valley of Tehachapi, California. He had a dream to create a sanctuary for retiring racehorses in the memory of his late father, Harry, who was also an ardent horseman. She had endured many years of caring for unwanted Thoroughbreds at her own small, overburdened farm. The vacant farm before them would need much work, but together they shared a vision of what could be. When the farm was purchased, enthusiastic help arrived from every corner of the racing world. New barns, fences and training facilities were built, and today the Harry A. Biszantz Memorial Center for Thoroughbred Retirement has grown to care for a constant population of 80 horses in rehabilitation, retraining, or comfortable retirement. Now known simply as Tranquility Farm, this special place of spacious barns and pastures is dedicated solely to the welfare of the Thoroughbred horse, where retiring runners enjoy the peace and appreciation they deserve, and where an unwanted broodmare or yearling can find shelter while awaiting a new life in an adoptive home.

Hearts for Hounds

We are a nonprofit organization specializing in the rescue of small dogs and puppies of all breeds and mixes. We are comprised of dedicated volunteers who share a common goal and compassion, which is to educate the public regarding animal welfare and find qualified homes for abandoned and forgotten animals. Because we are a rescue organization, we respect and support our local shelters. We recommend that you first visit your local shelter where many beautiful and loving animals are waiting to be adopted. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, please come visit us. Donations by individuals like yourself allow us to continue rescue and placement services, all while maintaining the health and well-being of each animal within our care. To date, we have successfully placed over 5,000 dogs and puppies in loving and caring homes.
