Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA)

We are an all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Great Kansas City area. Our organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness. Our pets are either in foster homes or one of several boarding facilities that we work with. We also do courtesy listings in Pet Finder, facilitate low-cost spay and neutering, work on transfers and transports with existing rescue groups, help individuals and organizations promote, screen and educate potential adopters, fundraise to help pets with special needs, and offer guidance and information about animal rescue, etc.

Basts Treasures

Our first rescue was in 1987. Bast's Treasures was put into operation in 1992 when we discovered that many shelters routinely euthanize unweaned kittens due to a lack of manpower. We specialize in kittens newborn to 5 weeks. We foster them in a loving cage free home-like atmosphere until they are old enough to place. We also have the occasional older kitten or adult cat available. Vax, S/N, contract.

Doggy Doodles Adoptions

Doggy Doodles Adoptions animal rescue consists of an all volunteer organization, with people who are dedicated to rescue operations of St. Louis' Homeless Pet Population. DDA is also an IRS approved 501C3 Not-For-Profit Charitable Organization. We are an in home foster care system, keeping animals out of kennels and facilities to ensure the best social interaction possible for homeless pets in need. We focus on educating our adopters and the community about spaying and neutering of animals, and why it is so critical for both the healthy life of animals, as well as to help reduce the number of overpopulated domestic animals in the US.

Furever Shih Tzu

Our Shih Tzu can come from a variety of situations... We get dogs out of Shelters, owner turn-ins, dogs found running loose, dogs who are abandoned because of their owners death...etc. Rather than leave these dogs to die in a shelter, we take them in and address their needs. We will treat any medical condition the dog has. Then we spay and/or neuter every dog (no exceptions), bring him or her current on all shots, and begin it on heartworm and flea protection. The dog is bathed, groomed, and put into a foster home for evaluation. Each dog stays in their foster home until they are adopted.

FURRY Ferret Rescue

FURRY Ferret Rescue is a non-profit 501(3)(c) organization. We do not ship ferrets, nor do we breed. Through the doors of our shelter, many a ferret have found new forever homes. We are dedicated to finding loving, caring homes for every ferret. If a ferrets' health or age does not allow for adoption, we care for that ferret until its natural death. We NEVER put a ferret to sleep because we could not find him/her a home. We turn no ferret away, no matter the health, age, or lack of training. Medical needs are met, and manners are taught. Here at FURRY Ferret Rescue, we believe that educating the potential pet owner is one of the most crucial things a shelter can do. An educated pet owner can provide a safer, happier, and healthier environment for their pet, thus making both the pet and themselves a good match.

Golden Retriever Rescue Rangers

We rescue puppies and adults from shelters and from the streets. When animals are placed in their new home they will be examined by a licensed veterinarian approved by that shelter. When dogs are placed they will be heartworm negative, treated for common internal parasites (worms), neutered or spayed, bathed and/or flea-dipped if necessary, vaccinated: DHLPP; (Bordetella if necessary, from a shelter) Rabies vaccine/tag if over 6 months of age, ready to start on heartworm preventative and flea prevention. Every attempt will be made to determine information about the animal’s history, but often for strays it simply is not available.

Golden Retriever Rescue Rangers

We rescue Golden Retrievers and place them in great homes! While we think they are the most wonderful breed in the world, they don't work in every household; they are large, active and they shed. They are very intelligent, which gets them into trouble if they get bored, and they MUST be trained, preferably at a young age, so that they can be the super pet they were meant to be. Training is included with most adoptions, in addition to spaying or neutering and other veterinary care.

Northern Lights Molosser Rescue

we are now Northern Lights Molosser Rescue and we will be primarily rescuing the rarer Molosser breeds. These are breeds that have been true guardians & "watchers" of their families for long before many of these "common" breeds were ever acknowledged or developed, and as such are not breeds that can be made to "conform" to our idea of what we want them to be.
