Animal Rescue and Refferal Inc

Animal Rescue & Referral, Inc., founded in 1996, is a nonprofit organization of caring animal lovers who help find homes for unwanted or homeless dogs and cats. We also educate the public on animal-related topics, participate in spay/neuter programs, network with pure-breed and mixed-breed rescue groups, and provide informative advice and resources for pet owners. We also believe that education will help us battle the ever-growing problems of animal abuse, puppy mills and pet overpopulation.

Advocates for DAWGS

The DAWGs (Dogs from Appalachian Welfare Groups) featured on this site all have suffered the indignity of abandonment as a result of the lack of humane education in Appalachia. Though they have been the victims of abandonment and sometimes cruelty through neglect (starvation, mange, heartworm and other deadly parasitic infestations, collars allowed to grow into their necks, etc.) and/or overt abuse (beaten, maimed, etc.), these sentient creatures still long for love and affection and are very spiritual in their forgiveness of human society in general.

Paws-itively Pets...Specializing in Primates & Birds

PAWS is a private rescue dedicated to the placement of unwanted or abandoned Exotic Pets. We specialize in Primates and Birds.....and also do all types of Reptiles as well. Paws has a collected experience time of over 30 years of working with animals. We pride ourself in proper care and good solid placements. Exotics can be a bit harder to place as each placement usually causes severe trauma. With this in mind Paws carefully screens all potential homes trying desperately to make this the last tranfer for this animal. If Expert knowledge is what you want about Exotics.....then please talk the folks at PAWS.

Tiny Prints Ferret Rescue

We had to stop taking in Ferrets at this time due to high medical bills. Our bill needs to be paid off with our vet before we can resume taking in ferrets. We do not expect to have any ferrets for adoption until well into 2008 and for our medical bills are still over $3000.00

Save a Yorkie Rescue, Inc

We are ALWAYS looking for FOSTER homes. Somewhere that a small scared dog can rest up after being in a shelter until it can go to its forever home. Yes, it takes a special person to be able to take in a dog, especially an older dog, but the alternative is that they have NO home to stay in. It is unthinkable to us to let a little Yorkie stay in a shelter for a moment longer than necessary when there are good families who are waiting for a Yorkie. If you think that you would like to learn about becoming a good foster home, please click here FOSTER and fill out an application. Fostering is the best thing you can do for a Yorkie. Be someone special.
