South Carolina Awareness and Rescue for Equines, Inc (S.C.A.R.E.)

Imagine you were left alone, unable to gather food or water, feeling your life slipping away, because your owner - for whatever reason - places no value on your welfare. The rescues entrusted to S.C.A.R.E. have all experienced feelings of hopelessness and doom. This organization, acting on behalf of the rescues, has replaced hopelessness with hope, doom with destiny. Vision: To ensure that all equines in the state of South Carolina live in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment. Mission: To provide public awareness and education concerning the welfare of equines, and to work with county Humane Society Chapters Animal Control Offices and Law Enforcement Offices in South Carolina to guarantee the welfare and safety of all equines in the state. S.C.A.R.E. will assist in the investigation of equine abuse and/or neglect cases in South Carolina and will provide responsible foster/adoptive homes and quality rehabilitative care for equines in need.

Maude Schiffley Chapter of S.P.C.A.

We are a non-profit (c)3 organization that was started over 40 years by Maude Schiffley. We continue to carry on her mission. Our goals are: 1. To reduce the overbreeding of domestic animals, primarily cats and dogs. 2. To further responsible pet ownership. 3. To place adoptable pets into responsible homes. 4. To shelter animals in such a way as to minimize their stress, protect them from the elements, and to provide a place of safety and comfort. 5. To educate the public (adults and children) on proper animal care and responsible animal ownership.

Sammies of the South Samoyed Dog Rescue, Inc.

We are a non-profit rescue organization, pending our 501(c)(3) status, dedicated to saving the lives of unwanted, homeless and abandoned Samoyed Dogs. Some of our lovely dogs come into SOTS as victims of domestic situations, through no fault of their own. Others may have been strays or abandoned, or unwilling guests at area humane societies and animal control facilities. We pull from shelters and dog pounds around the country. We rescue, foster, rehabilitate and adopt these magnificent dogs into quality homes.

Cullen's Archangel RescuE (CARE)

Cullen's Archangel RescuE (CARE) was started in 2003 for the protection and rescue of animals in need. Our mission is to educate the community, help animals in need, decrease the amount of strays in our community, and provide shelter for animals who are in need of adoption, including those who are considered 'non-adoptable'. CARE is a nonprofit, no kill animal rescue group. We are primarily located in and around Columbia, SC. We also have a few volunteers in GA. We try to keep our focus on rescues in SC, NC, & GA, but we do adopt out of state (from NY down to FL). We do not have a shelter and operate out of just a few private foster homes. We are constantly in need of more volunteers and foster homes. If interested, please contact us for more information. The animals need you more than you know!

PETS Inc. Adopt-A-Pal

Many pet problems are due to overpopulation. Pure and simple. And the solution to this is just as simple. Spay & Neuter. It's just not a complicated matter. But it must be addressed on a grand scale. Rescuing and placing 25 or 30 animals a year is inadequate. If we are to end the misery we must be willing to commit to a long term solution to overpopulation. PETS, Inc. has developed programs to address the problems from the point of rescue, through the rehabilitation and adoption processes and then, going a step further, to insure the animal has a reasonably good chance for successful integration into the family by addressing its training and emotional needs. We want to be sure that our involvement with the adoptive family will positively impact the way they will interact with their future pets as well. We believe that most people who do not provide properly for their pets simply don't understand their animal's basic nature, instincts and emotional as well as physical needs. It is our mission to assist people with their pets through education, counseling, training assistance and low-cost health care.
