Dogwood Animal ShelterDogwood Animal Shelter is a private, non profit (501C), "no-kill" facility serving a tri-county area. The Shelter is funded entirely by sales at the Dogwood Thrift Shop , Membership/Donations, and adoption fees. Those adoption fees are: Canines - $65.00 - includes vaccinations, spay/neuter & microchip. Felines - $55.00 - includes vaccinations & spay/neuter. Dogwood Animal Shelter provides to the community a low cost spay & neuter program, as well as a free educational program designed to promote empathy, humane treatment, and responsible pet ownership. We were established and incorporated in 1976. Flawdogs AdoptionWe are a ridiculously joyful rescue that deals almost exclusively with puppymill and breeder rejects. The "flaw" is usually that the adults are no longer profitable in the number of pups they produce, or the pups are broker rejects. Sometimes the flaws are very apparent, sometimes they are as slight as a cut on the edge of an ear or a tail too short. The majority of Flawdogs live here, but two wonderful neighboring families now foster their own batches of hooligans, also. Forest Ridge Rescue HouseForest Ridge Rescue House is ( technically) a purebred dog rescue that was established in 1987 (although we do have our share of multi-cultural backrounded dogs who find their way here..).I started this rescue when I was working as a Vet Tech and then later as an Asst. Franklin County Humane SocietyOur shelter, 20 minutes West of St. Louis County, takes in about 4,000 lost, dumped in the country, and otherwise abandoned or unwanted but perfectly loving and adoptable pets each year, including many purebreds. We shelter and care for them, provide health care and love, and try to return home or adopt out as many as we can. We sponsor spay/neuter programs in the area to cut down on the number of litters, and and educate the community about responsible pet ownership. We participate in adoption events in the St. Louis area each weekend, and place as many pets as we can on Petfinder.com. We are funded ONLY by private donations and fees - we get no tax support or donations from HSUS, ASPCA, United Way, or other large charitable groups.
