ARFhouse ChicagoARFhouse Chicago (Animal Refuge Foundation) is a no-kill animal shelter located in Chicago. Founded in 2006, a group of individuals with experience in the animal rescue industry and the desire to help Chicago lower its euthanasia rate and homeless pet population formed ARFhouse Chicago. We are a 100% volunteer run organization. ARFhouse Chicago will place dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and rabbits into permanent homes. We currently house our animals in foster homes and boarding facilities and are working to secure a facility in 2007 to expand our operations. ARFhouse Chicago is affiliated with ARFhouse in Sherman Texas, the third largest no-kill sanctuary in the United States. ARFhouse is located in a rural area of North Texas and recognizing the potential for a beneficial partnership with a large urban shelter, has offered invaluable support to ARFhouse Chicago. All of the animals at ARFhouse Chicago are current on vaccinations, heartworm checked, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and receive routine medical check ups. We pride ourselves on the level of care, commitment, and medical attention that our animals receive. ARFhouse Chicago NFP is an Illinois non-for-profit organization. Homeward Bound Pet ShelterThe mission of Homeward Bound Pet Shelter is to shelter and rehabilitate relinquished cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies until they can be permanently adopted into loving homes. Homeward Bound has operated as a no-kill, not-for profit organization since April 2002. On July 1, 2005, Homeward Bound became a division of Macon Resources, Inc. Macon Resources, Inc. is a not for profit agency that provides comprehensive services and supports which promote growth, independence, and self-worth for children and adults with disabilities and their families. This unique social partnership is benefiting both organizations as well as the Decatur community. During fiscal year 2006, we placed 258 dogs and 128 cats. That's a total of 386 animals whose lives we have touched in a very positive way! We rescued pets not only from the Decatur and Macon County area but from several humane societies and animal control facilities throughout central and southern Illinois. Our vision to establish community outreach programs is becoming a reality. Animal Education and Rescue (NFP)Animal Education and Rescue, NFP is an Illinois not for profit organization. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization. 3. The purpose of the foundation is to help countless numbers of animals and people. 1. We speak to schools, civic organizations, and clubs about responsible pet ownership. This will include the reasons for spaying and neutering, general care, and the do's and don'ts of owning a pet. We teach pet owners about how animals communicate with each other and with humans. We have designed special programs to introduce animals to children through animal body language sessions and pet education. 2. We provide pet therapy programs. Volunteers and their pets will visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools for the disabled and hospitals.
