Henry County Animal ControlThe Henry County Animal Control Department was established in its current facility in Cambridge, Illinois in 1978. It has a staff of two, the Animal Control Officer and an Office Assistant . This department enforces state and county ordinances pertaining to animal abuse, bites, rabies control, and handles the issuing of rabies tags and domestic animal registration for all of Henry County. Over the years the Department has been a self-supporting program, costing no taxpayer dollars except for vehicles and a building expansion. The Animal Control Department also works closely with, and is currently a branch of, the Henry County Sheriff's Office. Homeward Bound Pet ShelterThe mission of Homeward Bound Pet Shelter is to shelter and rehabilitate relinquished cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies until they can be permanently adopted into loving homes. Homeward Bound has operated as a no-kill, not-for profit organization since April 2002. On July 1, 2005, Homeward Bound became a division of Macon Resources, Inc. Macon Resources, Inc. is a not for profit agency that provides comprehensive services and supports which promote growth, independence, and self-worth for children and adults with disabilities and their families.
