Deaf Dane Rescue Inc.

Deaf Dane Rescue Inc. (an Oregon non-profit corporation, Reg #097803-96) is an independent Great Dane rescue organization that services the needs of deaf and other special needs Danes exclusively. Deaf Dane Rescue Inc. believes it is important to give each dog a head start by not only having experienced people evaluate them, but also by jump-starting their socialization process through the use of immersion techniques. Deaf Dane Rescue Inc. uses a placement contract to protect the dogs and new owners in case there are any problems with a placement, and is always willing to take a dog back after placement for any reason. Deaf Dane Rescue Inc. will assess, train, and if possible, place any special needs Dane. Prior to placement, every Dane will be trained with the basic hand commands, including commands such as sit, down, good boy (girl), come, go, stay, no, and whatever other commands might be required.

Pioneer Humane Society

It all started because of an injured mule which could not 'legally' be destroyed because it was unclaimed by the owner. Seven concerned West End residents joined together to care for the mule, as it seems that no one else cared. Thus, was started the Umatilla County Humane Society. Its organization and non-profit status were supervised by Gene Burgess, then Executive Secretary of the Oregon Humane Society in Portland. Incorporation papers were issued, and the organization registered as a federal and state 501(c)(3) humane non-profit corporation in 1975. Over the years, through different administrations and several name changes including Stokes Landing Humane Society and, most recently, Pioneer Humane Society, the organization has never waivered from its main goal to prevent cruelty to animals. Administrative reorganization in 2002 has resulted in an expanded mission which now includes: education to promote responsible pet ownership, reduction of unwanted animals through on-going spay/neuter programs, adoption services for lost and abandoned animals, plus plans to construct a new shelter to serve the City of Pendleton as well as the eastern portion of Umatilla County.

Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon

Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon is a non-profit group of volunteers based in Philomath, Oregon. We are an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon was organized in 1998. Our goal is to rescue older dogs who are homeless and place them with permanent loving families. We prefer to take dogs 6 years and older, but no dog is turned away regardless of age. Our senior dogs come to us from a variety of places. Local shelters contact us when they receive an older dog if they are limited on space. Owners who are moving to assisted living facilities ask us to find new homes for their beloved pets. And, families of deceased owners will often contact us to place a pet who has lost their owner. Our dogs live in foster homes while waiting for the right people to adopt them. This allows us to evaluate the dogs in a normal home environment, and give the prospective new owner/s a very accurate description. This way we can match a dog with the perfect home.

Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue Network - North West

We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a NATIONAL network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need. We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between. Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairns life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairns personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle. At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.
