Cats-Are-Purrsons-Too

Incorporated in Illinois in 1989, Cats-Are-Purrsons-Too began as a safe haven in the home of Sister Marijon Binder for cats that elderly neighbors could no longer keep because of changing life situations. As word spread, "neighbors" form all over Chicago and the Northern/Northwest suburbs began to call begging for board for their beloved companion cats during a short term hospital or nursing home stay, and/or to keep them if/when the person died. At the same time it seems that little catnip calling cards in secret felines language were being passed around in alleys and dumping grounds where cats and kittens were in desperately unsafe situations. "We" (numbering no more than two or three soft hearted, dedicated volunteers) responded to as many nowhere-else-to-turn elderly callers and endangered felines rescues as we could.

Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue

Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue is a non profit, State Licensed, ALL Volunteer organization that helps homeless or abandoned Shetland Sheepdogs.........also known as "Shelties". We take in the Shelties that need us, and adopt them out to wonderful new homes. Founded in 1998 by our current director, Natalie Whalen, Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue takes in and places approximately 150-200 Shelties each year! We will take in any Sheltie that needs us. We do not have a shelter facility. All dogs are housed and cared for in our network of foster homes. This allows us to get to know the dogs personality along with any special needs it may have. All of our dogs get the best of medical care. Each dog is treated for any medical problems.....then spayed or neutered, brought current on all shots, wormed, treated for fleas and ticks, heartworm tested and treated if positive for HW, started on preventative medication, started on flea prevention medicine, and groomed. All shelties are then carefully placed in approved, responsible, permanent homes.

Centralia Humane Society

The Centralia Humane Society is a no kill non-profit organization and dedicated to animal protection and awareness. We are established to prevent cruelty and abuse to all creatures. We operate strictly as volunteers. Our funds come from donations, fundrasiers, memorials and membership dues. We help return lost pets to their rightful owners . We have found good homes for 385 pets last year. We investigate cruelty and abuse cases. We help those that would like to adopt a pet and give them a loving home but cannot afford all the veterinary expenses involved with spaying, neutering, shots, etc. We pay veterinarian expenses for unclaimed injured animals. We help educate the public, help enforce and update excisting animal laws. We also have Wildlife rehabilitation with no funding from any outside source only by donation. Donations and foster parents are in extreme need right now. Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation

More than 28,000 dogs and cats are killed in Chicago every year -- even more animals are neglected and abused. The Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation's mission is to decrease the thousands of euthanizations and abuses in our city through dog rescue and adoption. CCRF saves displaced and homeless dogs throughout the Chicagoland area and places these dogs in loving area homes through responsible adoption. By working with our adopters and the community on adoption and the humane treatment of animals, CCRF believes that we can instill respect and appreciation for animals and contribute to making Chicago a no-kill city.
