Pender County Animal ControlPender County Animal Control is a small rural shelter that is located in a big county. Pender Co. is 900 sq. miles of country roads and beaches, stretching east from Topsail Island to west of HWY 421 and south from the New Hanover county line to north at the Onslow and Duplin county lines. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The shelter is located in Burgaw, NC. about 25 miles north of Wilmington, NC. Wiggle is a smooth black and tan dachshund the Colby's rescued from a pet store where he had been dropped and stepped on by customers who were allowed to mishandle the puppies. Operation TopcatOperation Topcat is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 1995 by a few residents of Topsail Island, NC to assist individuals who were trying to do the same thing we were: help the stray and feral cats in our area. Our organization follows the Trap/Neuter/Return (T/N/R) program recommended internationally. With this method, feral (wild) cats are trapped, neutered, and have an ear tipped for easy recognition.
