Willamette Humane Society

Willamette Humane Society has been serving animals in the Mid-Willamette Valley since 1965, providing them with a place to live, nutritious food, plenty of love, and exercise until they can be placed in a new, permanent home. Over 12,000 homeless animals come through our door each year, hoping to get a second chance. Willamette Humane Society is an independent, private, nonprofit corporation supported solely by the generosity of our community's individuals and businesses. Because of this support, the Humane Society provides Marion and Polk counties with many programs and services, including adoptions, cruelty investigations, humane education, referrals, and much more.

Hopes Haven

Hope's Haven began as a dream. A televised news story about a case of obscene animal abuse broke our hearts. Video from the scene taken after authorities seized possession of the animals revealed several deceased and emaciated dogs. Of the dogs still alive only two were determined to have any chance of survival. Marsha called the humane society where the dogs had been taken and asked if a terribly emaciated Doberman that was on the news cast could be held for her to adopt if she survived. The care givers at the shelter named the Doberman Hope. Hope's life had been one of being chained inside of a barn and forced to have litter after litter of puppies, all while rarely seeing the light of day. Although Hope never did fully recover she did indeed survive and lived with us for almost thirteen months before she died. Hope's Haven is a tribute to her and to all innocent dogs that have had their trust betrayed by unworthy guardians. Hope's Haven now focuses on rescuing Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes in need. Although these are our breeds of focus, Hope's Haven will never turn away a dog in need. We love dogs of all breed and believe that any homeless animal deserves a second chance. Hope's Haven is devoted to giving these dogs the precious time they need to find their perfect new home. In addition to being a safe Haven for dogs looking for a new home, Hope's Haven is also a sanctuary for senior and special needs dogs that are looking for a safe quiet happy place to live out their golden years. So many dogs in their plus years are found homeless and are not candidates for adoption - these beauties live their life at Hope's Haven.

CAT rescues, rehabilitates and places the community’s abandoned, neglected and injured cats and kittens into loving, lifetime homes. CAT not only partners with the community but with local county shelters, other rescue groups and veterinary offices to take in cats that might otherwise be euthanized due to medical problems or space constraints. Columbia Humane Society

The Columbia Humane Society is a No-Kill non-profit organization dedicated to providing shelter, food and medical care for hundreds of unwanted dogs and cats each year until a new "forever home" can be found for each and every one. We also offer micro-chipping, low cost pet-food, and private cremation services. Spay and neuter education is another primary focus and discount coupons are available on our front counter or can be mailed to you directly. Remember, for every human, there are 45 dogs and 250 cats on the earth today. Until we reduce the number being born each day...our job is far from complete. We welcome visitors, and encourage volunteers to assist us in the daily upkeep of our facility. You can also help walk and socialize our dogs and pet our cats who live in a "pod" environment allowed to climb and play freely.

Columbia County Animal Control

Located in St. Helens, Oregon, CCAC is the animal control agency for Columbia County. We deal with stray, neglected, abused, abandoned and owner relinquished dogs. On a daily basis we take care of a wide variety of canine related situations, from collecting stray dogs to getting vet assistance for injured dogs. At the shelter we have limited space for holding dogs who are either hopefully waiting for their owners to come and find them or are available to new homes. CCAC is a county facility but it is funded mostly by dog licence fees. We rely on donations from people who want to help with the care of animals who truly need to be rescued.
