Pendleton Animal Welfare ShelterPendleton Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS) of Pendleton Co., WV was formed in April, 2005 by a group of concerned Pendleton County residents. There has never been an animal shelter in Pendleton prior, not even a dog pound! We have been able to save some pets over this time, but would like to increase our capacity and effectiveness because there are many more pets we are unable to help due to a lack of funding and we are the only option for homeless animals in Pendleton. Though we are are relatively new, we do have our 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status, so all donations are tax deductible and used to pay veterinary bills and basic costs like phone, supplies, kennels & crates. Preston County (WV) Animal ShelterThe Preston County Animal Shelter is a municipal animal control facility located in Kingwood, in northcentral West Virginia. We are the only animal control facility in a large, rural county. Space is limited and intake is high, so pets often do not remain very long. We are not a no-kill shelter, and our adoption rate is approximately 40%, with puppies and toy breed adult dogs having the highest adoption rate, adult dogs over 15 lbs., cats, and kittens having the lowest. Putnam County Animal Relief CenterThe shelter is frequently overcrowded with pets who desperately need your help. Please consider adopting one of our dogs, cats, puppies, or kittens. If you cannot adopt, please help by spreading the word. Also remember the importance of spaying/neutering to help control pet overpopulation.
