Tug Valley Veterinary ClinicTug Valley Veterinary Clinic has been located in Williamson, WV, for 19 years. There is no animal shelter and no dog pound in Mingo County, of which Williamson is the county seat. We have a tremendous problem with stray dogs and cats. As a consequence we take in between 40 and 100 strays every year. We acquire our adoptees in various ways. Most commonly, someone leaves a cardboard box full of kittens or puppies in front of our door. Others are brought in by good Samaritans who bring in injured pets, usually found in or alongside a road. We have taken in many pets that had treatable diseases or injuries, but the owner was unable or unwilling to pay for treatment. I have 15 dogs who live with me, and I simply have reached my limit. Without You Animal RescueOUR STORY : We are a NEW home and foster based shelter in Boone County West Virginia. We've been working to save the lives of a few homeless dogs and cats since July of 2004 ( check out our happy tails- we're proud of them!) As far as we know, we are the ONLY animal rescue of any sort in our county ! Boone County has an EPIDEMIC problem with homeless animals. Everywhere you look are homeless animals. It's very common here to find strays on the roadside left for coyotes to eat, the weather to kill, starvation, or maybe if they were lucky, some coal miner on his way to work to catch one for his kids ( I'm sure thats what the dumper hopes will happen), thats if they aren't so scared they run from him! Everyone I speak with knows of another place where animals are dumped. OR THEY have an animal they would like me to take. Unfortunately I have little space, and currently no foster homes.
