YONKERS ANIMAL SHELTERWe are a municipal shelter run by the City of Yonkers. We are open daily Monday through Friday 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 12:00 noon to 3:30 PM. We are interested in finding permanent homes for all of our pets. These animals are asking for a chance to show you their affection and love. If you are interested in a pet please give our animals a chance. Potential adopters are required to fill out our pre-adoption form. You can do this at the shelter or, if you want to speed up the process, download it here and complete it before you visit us. All animals will be spayed/neutered through the adoption fee. York Adopt-A-PetOur purpose is to rescue abandoned, neglected and/or injured animals and return them to their home or find them a new responsible home. Volunteers are always appreciated! We need foster homes for puppies and pregnant dogs and cats. Volunteers can also exercise, clean, and feed the animals at our facility. Young At Heart Pet RescueYoung At Heart is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming adult and senior dogs and cats. We are a small rescue that utilizes a small network of foster homes and a small cat adoption center to save our pets. The majority of our pets are between the ages of 3 and 8 years, however you will occasionally find one a little younger or a little older in our care. Mature dogs and cats give so much and expect so little. They know you've rescued them and they respond to a loving touch, soft voice and kind eyes just as we humans do. We rescue them and we find them new forever homes, and they are welcome to stay with us until we are able to find that special someone. Young At Heart Pet Rescue was founded in April of 2005. Though we are just in our youth as an organization, our hope is to find a home for every adoptable pet we rescue, to educate the public on the benefits of adopting a mature pet, and to decrease the euthanasia rate for older, adoptable pets in Illinois.
