HART of WisconsinWe are a non-profit 501c3 organization working for the welfare of dogs in Western Wisconsin. We are a group of dedicated volunteers who help local animal shelters with dogs that are not easily adoptable in a shelter environment, or need out due to space restrictions. Taylor County Animal ServicesWe pick up stray or lost cats and dogs and give them a safe comfortable place to stay and care for them until their owners can recover them. Sometimes there is no one who calls to find these pets and we need to find new adoption families for them. We are very limited on the time alloted for us to care for these animals, the county who has contracted us will only provide funds for seven days, after that we keep these pets at our own expense. Humane Society of Portage CountyFounded in 1969, the Humane Society of Portage County owns and operates an animal shelter in Bukolt Park, located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The shelter provides food, housing and care for over 2,500 stray, unwanted, sick, or injured animals each year. HSPC is primarily funded through private donations, fundraising activities and adoptions. Outreach for HSPC is based on our foster and volunteer programs. Many nursing mothers are sent into foster care until their kittens or puppies are ready to be adopted. We also use this program for undersocialized animals and old/sickly dogs and cats that would otherwise not find homes. Our volunteers help with the daily chores and activities that keep our animals happy and healthy. Many volunteers walk the dogs and socialize our cats. They also help with general training. Country Animal HavenWe are a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue and shelter, located on eight acres of land just north of Stoughton, Wisconsin. Our mission is to provide a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and a safe haven for animals while they await permanent loving homes. Country Animal Haven was established in September of 2000. Since that time, over 1300 cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and other animals have passed through our doors. Some remain at the shelter in life-long care, but most have found new families and new lives. Country Animal Haven endeavors to be a strong presence in the community, working to increase awareness of animal issues. We strongly advocate spaying and neutering of both feral and pet cats to reduce the overabundance of unwanted kittens and improve the general health of adult cats. We hope for the day when all animals will know what it means to be wanted, loved and cared for. Mit Liebe Shepherd RescueMit Liebe German Shepherd Dog Rescue began in October of 1997. In those 6 years we have 'rescued' just over 100 German Shepherd Dogs. The rescue was started because of the problem of overpopulation, not only GSDs, but all pets. German Shepherd Dogs have been a favorite breed of mine for years. The German Shepherd Dog is a loyal, brave, and beautiful companion. With our volunteers, we are trying to make a difference. The best part of rescue is seeing a dog that was sick and underweight when he came into rescue, going to his forever home, healthy and at a comfortable weight. One of the hardest parts of rescue, is saying no to a shelter or an owner surrender. NO, meaning that we just do not have any room. And if none of the rescues have room, then what happens to the dog?
