The Potter League for Animals is a private non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of animals. To promote the humane treatment of all animals, we shelter and care for lost or unwanted companion animals, return them to their homes, place them into humane environments, or sensitively euthanize them. Through community education and the fostering of relationships between people and animals, we secure their future.

The Fauquier SPCA was founded in 1957 to offer protection and assistance to the animals of Fauquier County and surrounding areas. The SPCA lived up to its name almost immediately. Barely two weeks after it was organized, the SPCA went to the rescue of some starving livestock, whose owner was subsequently convicted of cruelty to animals. In the more than 45 years following its inception, the Fauquier SPCA has continued its mission of providing local animals with the most complete services possible.

We opened in 2002 to help the pets that are often considered "disposable" in today's society. These pets; rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, mice, rats, reptiles, turtles, birds, hedgehogs, ferrets, chinchillas, sugar gliders, degus, etc. have as much of a right to a second chance as do all the cats and dogs out there. **any dogs or cats listed on our site are strays we have personally found and are trying to find homes for**
