Hands for PawsHands for Paws is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the suffering of stray dogs (called satos by the locals) roaming Puerto Rico, desperately in need of medical attention, food and water, and a loving touch. We were originally created at Manos por Patas, which means Hands for Paws in Spanish, and operate under both names. Our program involves providing sterilizations to the dogs as well as medical attention and vaccinations. We will broaden the program to provide free or low-cost spay and neuter services for all pets in Puerto Rico. Rabbit AdvocatesRabbit Advocates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose volunteers specialize in educating the public about the care of domestic rabbits. We aim to place surrendered or abandoned rabbits in loving homes where they will be welcomed as family members. Formerly a part of the Oregon Humane Society, in 2002 we created a group solely devoted to promoting the welfare of domestic rabbits. The Rabbit Advocates operate an education and adoption website as well as two help lines; one through the Oregon Humane Society and one on our own. Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue Network - North WestWe are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a NATIONAL network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need. We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between. Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairns life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairns personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.
