Aid to Animals of Northern IllinoisAid to Animals is a Illinois shelter concerned with finding homes for some of the millions of homeless animals in our country. We take in cats and dogs. In the spring, there are many homeless pregnant cats who we place in foster homes. The kittens are spayed or neutered and then placed for adoption. The mama cats are spayed and also placed for adoption. Many times we also rescue dogs from shelters and holding facilities when their "time" is up. We try to rescue those sweet, loving animals that might find a home. We are strong advocates that adult dogs and cats can make the best pets for many reasons. Also, most potential adopters want puppies and kittens, however, when they realize the work and destruction involved, many times the kittens and puppies are given up to the shelter. Adults are calmer and learn quickly. They are extremely appreciative of the chance for a new home. Please consider an adult pet instead of a youngster.P. O. Saints Amoung Us - Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue"Saints Among Us", Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue, affiliated with the National Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping abandoned, abused, homeless, and relinquished Saints find a "forever home". ISBR is run solely by volunteers who have a great love for the breed and the dedication to help save them. Our volunteers put in countless hours and travel great distances, to ensure that these wonderful Saints find loving forever homes and are not destroyed. Because we are a rescue group, we do not have "shelter" where the animals are housed. We provide temporary, loving foster homes for all of our dogs until they are placed in their new homes. The dogs are fully vaccinated, sterilized, micro-chipped, parasite, and heartworm free. They are also temperament tested in a variety of situations. Most dogs are 18 months and older. We occasionally get puppies under one year of age. Belleville Area Humane SocietyIn 1959, a caring group of volunteers gathered to share a common and deeply-held concern: a desire to help the thousands of unwanted, abandoned and mistreated animals of this community. Their dedication to the welfare of animals led to the creation of the Belleville Area Humane Society. BAHS depends almost entirely upon the intrest and support of concerned citizens through donations and membership in the organization. A Board of Directors is charged with governance of the organization, including management of policies, finances, physical plant, operations, personnel, fundraising events, media and public relations, public outreach activities and all other matters that relate to its purpose and activities. The main activities of the shelter are carried out by empolyees (with additional assistance provided by volunteers) under the direction of a manager. BAHS is a non-profit organization. It's support is derived primarily from membership fees, donations, bequests, adoption fees and fundraising activities. Some operating funds are recieved through billed services to St. Clair Township and the city of Belleville.
