Iowa County Humane SocietyIn 1998 a group of concerned citizens in Iowa County got together to solve the stray and abandoned animal problem. The group had no money just an idea and had one thing in in common, the total love and devotion to animals. From that very first meeting the Iowa County Humane Society (ICHS) was formed. J D 2nd Chance Horse Rescue RanchWe are a small operation who buy horses to save them from slaughter. We pick up horses from auctions and will bid on them if no one or the slaughter people do. We will also take horses from people that need to give their horses up. We will not buy horses because people just want to sell their horses. This is a rescue and I dont have alot of money. All of this comes from myself and my husband Dave, Jody Pursley , Makon Buzzell, Michele Linke and Emily Volp who trains them at an incredible discount and my wonderful volunteers who come out and help out. Any donations and sales of the rescue horses will go back into the rescue. We work closely with rural shelters where adoptions are low and putting animals to sleep because of space is always a problem for them. These animals deserve a chance at a happy, healthy life too and we are proud to be able to make this happen. Kritter Rescue Team AssociationOur dogs live with us as family members; we know them well and can tell you what type of household would be best for them. They come to us from shelters and pounds that are full and desperately need an alternative to euthanizing for space. We try to help whenever we can by providing a safe place for these dogs until they are adopted. Some of our dogs come to us directly from owners who have had an unfortunate change in their lives and can no longer keep a beloved pet.
