	| Our mission is to promote humane treatment to all animals; to prevent cruelty to animals by investigating and resolving all complaints made by the public. We strive to adopt animals to forever loving homes; reunite animals to their rightful owners and inform the public about the lifelong commitment needed for our four legged companions. The Jackson County Animal Shelter will also provide a sanctuary for the unwanted, lost, orphaned and neglected. We will make every effort to educate the public about pet over-population and the importance of spaying and neutering their animals.

Our goal is to place pets in their forever homes. If you are interested in applying to adopt a pet, please contact us by email to obtain an adoption application and one can be emailed or faxed to you. Applications are reviewed and decisions are made within 24 hours. This gives the shelter staff time to check references and also gives the potential adopter time to consider the idea of having a new family member.
Adoption Costs include first shots, de-worming, and sometimes spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations:

	| The Mission of the Humane Society of Morgan County (HSMC) is the extension of education to pet owners in humane treatment of animals, increasing pet adoptions, and to maintain an animal shelter which is dedicated to providing humane care and treatment to animals in our care.
Outside help from SPCA and members of various humane societies helped form HSMC which was founded in 1977. HSMC is a nonprofit organization and only through the support of volunteers and donations from our community are we able to improve the quality of life for our animals.
Other significant programs implemented and managed by HSMC include:
Adoptions and Fostering, Subsidized Spay/Neuter Program, and Lost and Found Assistance. 5366 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs WV US 25411 Ph:(304)258-5592Fax:(304)258-2702

	| Jefferson County Animal Shelter is a kill shelter located in the tip of the Eastern Panhandle of WV, near Harper's Ferry and Charles Town. The shelter had a very high kill rate until June of 2006, when they started working with a volunteer to move as many adoptable dogs as possible into rescue. From June 2006 through December 2006, more than 100 dogs were adopted or taken into rescue. This marked a 75% reduction in the shelter's euthanasia rate! 161 Poor Farm Road, Kearneysville WV US 25430
