Shorewood Cocker Rescue

Shorewood Cocker Rescue has been in existence since 1985 and for most of that time consisted of Carole Kohler, the rescue's founder, placing homeless cockers into new homes. Then came the technology of the Internet, and the vast possibilities of communication. Through email and the website, Carole recruited volunteers who wanted to help the cocker breed, and since then, this dedicated group of volunteers has placed hundreds of dogs in Wisconsin and the surrounding states. The rescue recently went through some significant changes including becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a Board of Directors in 2001, and the retirement of the rescue's founder, Carole Kohler, in early 2003. However, throughout these changes we've stayed true to our mission. "The mission of Shorewood Cocker Rescue is to assist homeless cockers find permanent homes with responsible, loving families. We spay or neuter all cockers prior to placement and check references on all adopters. We make every effort to carefully match each cocker with the right family to maximize the adoption's success."

Arf's German Shephard Rescue, Inc.

ARF's GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE actually started in 1999, when founder, Terri, and her husband Perry came upon a very sick German Shepherd puppy being sold outside the Weyauwega Exotic Animal Fair for $20. Terri knew she could use the Wisconsin Dog Rescue listserv to contact a shepherd rescue, so she paid* for the sleepy little fellow and promised her husband the pup absolutely wouldn't be staying forever. (Terri had owned two GSDs in the past and knew how attached she became to the breed). Mit Liebe German Shepherd Rescue asked the couple to foster the pup for just two months, until they had room to take him in. Pistol (jokingly named because the worms, anemia, and the maggot living between the skin layers of his neck made him the most lethargic puppy ever) spent the rest of the summer sleeping at Perry's feet, or going for short walks at the dog park as he became healthier. Three weeks later, Terri was calling Mit Liebe back to say they HAD to adopt Pistol; he'd kicked in that Shepherd Charm and won the couple over. After Terri became listowner for Wisconsin Dog Rescue, she decided volunteering for shelters and other rescues wasn't enough; she wanted to save the other "Pistols" out there, too. She filed the paperwork to become incorporated, followed closely by the 501c3 paperwork, and Arf's German Shepherd Rescue, Inc. was founded in March 2002.

Richland Area Rescue, Inc.

Richland Area Rescue helps animals in need in the Richland County area of Wisconsin. Most dogs for adoption are strays or surrenders. We hold them for 7 to 10 days to give their owners a chance to claim them. After this time they are put on this site to be adopted. Just call us or drop us an e-mail and we'll be happy to tell you more about our available animals, give you directions, and set up a time to meet the animals. You need to make an appointment with us so that upon your arrival the animal you are interested in is still available. Please call after 5 PM on weekdays or anytime on weekends if you want to talk to us and not an answering machine.

Richland County Friends of Animals Inc.

Richland County Friends of Animals, Inc. was incorporated in 1977 as a no-kill animal organization. We are 100% volunteer and 100% non-profit, existing solely on donations and fundraisers. We have several adult and older cats looking for a lap to sit on, their very own bowl, and a permanent human companion. All of the cats are altered and current on their shots. We ask a $60.00 donation upon adoption for these cats, and will work out a payment plan if this is a financial burden. These cats are all strictly indoor-only cats; they are not mousers and a home visit is part of the adoption process. We also offer, for those who are not able to get their cat to the veterinary appointment, complimentary pick up and delivery service to our vet. We are also looking for foster homes for some cats until a permanent home is found – all you add is LOVE.
