AnimaLovers was founded in 1995 by a small group of friends who wanted to provide needy cats and dogs in the Capital District of New York with a better way to find their way to safety and new lives. Our goals at that time became our Mission Statement:
To provide housing, veterinary care, and adoption for unwanted, abandoned, injured, or stray dogs and cats;
To educate adopters, as well as the general public, about the health and training needs of our companion animals;
To promote spaying and neutering as an efficient and humane means of animal population control; and
To advocate for legislation which will prevent cruelty to animals.

As one of the few "full adoption" organizations in the state of Oregon, SafeHaven remains committed to the philosophy of not using euthanasia to control population. Once an animal is accepted at SafeHaven, there is no limit to the amount of time that animal can spend at the shelter. Once the shelter is full, however, no new animals can be accepted, thus preventing our current residents from being euthanized to make room for newcomers. It is this policy which differentiates SafeHaven from publicly funded "open admission" facilities.

Stillwater Rescue is located only 1 hour from Charlotte and 1 1/2 hours from Greensboro. We feature both pure and mixed breed dogs that are usually under 20 pounds. Our dogs are fostered in a climate so that we know them well and can place them in the kind of home they need. Our goal is for both the pet and the adoptive family to be very happy with each other.
