It is an open door shelter providing refuge for stray domestic animals as well as a second chance for a loving home to owner surrendered animals. ROICY DUHON ANIMAL CONTROL CENTERWe are an euthanizing shelter due to over population in our parish (county) and are governed by the City-Parish Police Department. Our official name is the Roicy Duhon Animal Control Center, named after a dedicated worker, friend, coach, and community member who passed away. We receive many animals in our shelter each day. From lost and found pets to strays and pregnant moms, we accept any and all animals who need a home. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to house all the animals that pass through our doors. Each day, some of the animals are available on a first-come, first serve basis during the hours we are open. Sorry, but we DO NOT offer Pit Bull or Chow dogs for adoption to the general public. While many of the animals turned in to the center do not have history or health records, they deserve a second chance. We cannot guarantee a pet's health, nor provide any medical information such as previous vaccinations or problems, however, we recommend that any animals that you adopt receive a general health check by a veterinarian within a 72 hour period.
