A Voice For Animals Inc.Voice For Animals (AVFA) is a Kentucky, nonprofit, 501 (c) (3) animal welfare organization. This organization was created by experienced, responsible pet owners and animal lovers who believe that rescuing, fostering, and adopting homeless animals is not enough. We must educate the community in responsible pet care, as well as, find forever homes for our rescues. Through humane educational programs, we hope to promote increased protection and quality of life for animals in South Central Kentucky. A Wet Nose Dog RescueA Wet Nose Dog Rescue (AWNDR) is very small rescue located in south central PA. We are a short distance from Hagerstown MD (approx. 12 miles) and 8 miles east of I-81. We are dedicated to all dogs but primarily german shepherd dogs. We concentrate on moving dogs from high kill shelters to foster homes and then to their forever homes. We have alot of experience with the shepherd breed and want to help these dogs who have been the victim of unwilling or unable owners or those dogs found as strays. All of these dogs will be temperment tested and placed accordingly. A&S Pitt Bull and Am Staff RescueA & S Rescue is a small rescue group dedicated to finding permanent and loving homes for American Staffordshire Terriers ("AmStaffs") and American Pit Bull Terriers ("Pit Bulls"). Prior to placement, all dogs are spayed and /or neutered and up to date on necessary vaccinations relevant to the dog's age. When possible, our dogs live in foster homes with foster families, where volunteers evaluate the dog's temperment, learn their behavioral quirks and work on basic obedience and manners. We endeavor to place each AmStaff and Pit Bull into a home best-suited for each individual dog. We carefully screen all applicants; a home visit and reference checks are required to ensure that the adoption is a good match- one that provides a permanent and loving home for the dog! Further, we maintain contact with our adoptive families and encourage them to contact us with any questions or concerns. If for ANY reason the Rescue AmStaff or Pit Bull is not working out in its new home, we require the dog to be returned to us as stated in our adoption contract. Upon return, we will reevaluate the dog and possibly consider placement into a different, more suitable home. Under no circumstances will we place our Rescue AmStaffs or Pit Bulls into homes where the dog will be subjected to dog fighting. A.D.O.P.T. Animal Deserving of Proper TreatmentSince opening on October 31, 1989, A.D.O.P.T. has found homes for over 12,000 pets. It takes a lot of hard work on the part of our generous volunteers to find homes for between fifteen and fifty kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs every week. We continue to spend our days working long hours because we love the animals and want to save them by finding a good home for as many of them as we can! While ADOPT has, on occasion, adopted dogs to homes out of state, we DO NOT ship animals. In the past, prospective adopters from surrounding states have driven here to meet our dogs and cats, and to search for a potential friend. Our volunteers work very hard to make the best possible match between your home and lifestyle and our dogs and cats. An important part of this process is meeting you and having you meet with the animals.
