We are a group of concerned citizens working to reduce the rate of animal euthanasia in Tennessee. We are doing this through the promotion of animal adoptions, the rescue of healthy animals, the provision of temporary foster homes, and the promotion of Spay and Neuter programs. We are organized as a non-profit Tennessee Corporation, in the form of a Society with members and Officers. Our working committees include Adoption Promotion and Foster Care Administration.

WAG is an all-volunteer, non-profit (501c3), domestic companion animal rescue organization dedicated to placing homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens in permanent, loving, responsible homes.
Active in Southeast Michigan, with primary focus on the Downriver area for the past 14 years, WAG accepts strays and owner give-ups into our adoption program.
Because we do not have a shelter facility, WAG is dependant on select foster care providers to accommodate the needs of homeless/stray animals until permanent placement is found.

Wags to Whiskers is an all volunteer organization. We foster at our homes, spend our own money (which we don't have a lot of) and spend all our time (when we are not in school or at our job). If you have found a dog or a cat, please do your best not to bring them to a kill shelter where the animal will be euthanized, no matter how cute. Ask them for statistics. Try putting an ad in the paper and on the Internet. Be sure to check out vet references and charge money for the animal. Get the animal spayed or neutered. Remember you have a life in your hands that you have been entrusted with. We would be more than happy to put the pict of your animal on our web site, but you must committ to our adoption procedures and to not put the animal down or bring the animal to a kill shelter.

An average of 120 dogs and cats can be housed at the shelter. Sadly, some of these animals have to be euthanized. Every animal admitted to the shelter receives medical care, a warm safe environment in which to heal and learn to trust, and much love to aid in preparation for becoming adoptable. The programs are made possible by the county and caring people who provide funding which keeps the doors open.
