We accept all domesticated animals and make arangements for wildlife to be turned over to the WV DNR. We intervene with the Nicholas County Sheriff Department in cases of animal cruelty and seek to return lost animals to their owners. We also strive to promote the adoption of as many animals as possible and increase public awareness as to the importance of spaying/neutering and the need for responisble pet care. SPAY NEUTER STOPS THE KILLING. NO-BIRTH IS THE FIRST STEP TO NO-KILL.

The Humane Society of Hampshire County is a non-profit organization whose mission is to relieve and prevent animal suffering and abuse by
1. Providing a humane, temporary shelter for stray and unwanted companion animals.
2. Carrying forward a continuous program of fundamental, widespread humane education promoting responsible pet ownership.
3. Reducing the overbreeding of dogs and cats through public education and sterilization programs.
4. Working to create a community with humane and caring attitudes towards both domestic animals and wildlife.
The Humane Society of Hampshire County is the only shelter in the community which accepts both stray and unwanted cats and dogs. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on memberships, donations, fund raising, and grant monies. Donations may be made as memorials (pet or human), or can be earmarked for spay/neuter projects, general operations, or staff training.
We have a paid staff of one exceptional shelter manager, one assistant, and a small corps of very dedicated volunteers. Included in this group of people are two certified euthanasia technicians, three people who have received training in wildlife rehabilitation, several persons who have received training at Humane Society of the United States shelter conferences, and a veterinarian who volunteers for health evaluations and performs neutering surgeries at a reduced cost.
Public hours are by appointment. This is to allow our small staff and volunteers to work efficiently which better serves both our pets and prospective adopters. Please leave a message on our answering machine and it will be returned promptly.

Working with shelters to help find permanent homes for unwanted pets, as well as a list of other activities. These things are all made possible by those donating time to the projects as well as the generous monetary donations of members and individuals in the community. We meet every 3rd Tuesday at the Moose Lodge in Keyser WV at 7:00 PM. We welcome you to join us as visitors to see what we are all about and encourage you to join us as members to help those in need

Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter (PAWS) of Pendleton Co., WV was formed in April, 2005 by a group of concerned Pendleton County residents. There has never been an animal shelter in Pendleton prior, not even a dog pound! We have been able to save some pets over this time, but would like to increase our capacity and effectiveness because there are many more pets we are unable to help due to a lack of funding and we are the only option for homeless animals in Pendleton. Though we are are relatively new, we do have our 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status, so all donations are tax deductible and used to pay veterinary bills and basic costs like phone, supplies, kennels & crates. As of 6/20/07, PAWS has rescued 134 pets through our Pet Rescue program!

We are a small group of animal lovers from a small county in North Carolina. We are a non-profit, tax exempt group which formed ten years ago to help improve conditions at the county animal shelter. We rescue shelter animals and adopt them through our foster care program. We encourage spay/neuter by providing education and financial assistance. We participate in community events to try to educate the public on humane and responsible pet ownership. Our most ambitious project is to build and operate an animal adoption center. We have purchased land for the project and have an aggressive fundraising campaign underway for the building. To make a donation or pledge, please call our office at 336-751-5214.
