ISLAND CAT ALLIES is a local non-profit group servicing Emerald Isle, NC and the surrounding areas. Our main objective is to increase the welfare of local feral cats through TNR (trap-neuter-release) programs. UPDATE ON NUMBERS!!!!! To date, we have spayed/neutered and vaccinated over 235 feral cats thus improving their quality of life and diminishing wild cat populations. The cats are identifiable by having their left ear tipped. All populations are monitored and always are provided with appropriate shelter and food. Occasionally, we run across kittens born to a feral mom, who are easily tamed and we have several adult cats who are super friendly and have apparently become lost or abandoned. All donations are greatly appreciated and can be mailed directly to our PO BOX 4068 Emerald Isle, NC 28594

Our current temporary, leased no-kill shelter is woefully inadequate. It is constantly filled beyond capacity and cannot meet the needs of our ever-growing community. In order to address all our community needs, the HSCC is leading a multi-county effort to build a no-kill animal shelter, regional spay/neuter clinic and education center. This 14,000 square foot facility will be built on five acres of land donated by the City of Hickory, with an additional piece of adjacent property donated by the City of Conover. The new facility will immediately increase the Humane Society’s ability to reduce animal overpopulation, the needless deaths of companion animals, offer low cost spay/neuter programs for eight counties, and provide community education. To achieve these results, a $4 million SNAP Campaign, to Shelter, Neuter And Protect animals has been launched. Let’s start building!! We need your support. The shelter animals deserve a great shelter while they wait for their "forever" home. Send Financial support to HSCC, Building Campaign, PO Box 63, Hickory, NC 28603

Always Best for Pets is a nonprofit organization for information on feral and stray cats. We advocate Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) - the most humane and effective method to reduce feral cat populations. We also provide direct services such as assisting in the trapping and release of feral cats. We take care of the cost of the pay / neuter of the feral cats once they are trapped. They also will receive their first vaccinations including the rabies vaccine. Then the cat will be released back into the area they were trapped or if needed, a safer area. Always Best for Pets is especially proud to be able to take in a few of the feral cats and tame them and make them adoptable. We have been very successful in the past being able to adopt out an average of 4 out of 5 of our trapped feral cats.
We also reach across the nation, to help individual people and communities set up trap and spay/neuter and release programs in their own neighborhoods, cities, and states. Always Best For Pets also provides funds for the cost of spay / neuter and first vaccines of feral cats.
