The mission of Valley of the Kings Sanctuary and Retreat is to provide a home for abused, abandoned, retired, and injured large felid's, exotic and domestic non-human animals.
We give the best available diet, housing, veterinary care and positive human interaction. Valley of the Kings educates the general public concerning the bond between human and non-human animals in the natural world.
We also teach that private and commercial ownership, hunting for profit or sport, and the destruction of natural habitat will mean eventual extinction for these creatures. Lastly, we teach that when we remove animals from the wild, we take their freedom and wildness, the essence of their being.

We are a rescue that helps local and not-so-local animal shelters place their animal in loving forever homes. Most shelters in this country are overwhelmed with animals, not enough space, help or money. We go into these shelters to rescue adoptable animals whose lives are about to be cut short.

We are a veterinary hospital for small animals. We are not a shelter in the common sense of the word, but we do a lot of shelter-type work. We don't usually take adult animals from clients but will assist them in finding someone to help them. We will, at ANY time, take back a cat that was adopted from us. That helps us be sure none of our kittens end up on the streets because of no other option. The thing that makes us most proud is the sheer number of feral cat and low income spays and neuters we do in a given year. We are very proud of that!

We are a Greyhound-placement organization that accepts Greyhounds primarily from the Wisconsin Greyhound racetracks and local shelters. Through a network of local veterinarians, our organization provides full examinations, spaying, neutering, dental care and other needed medical procedures prior to adoption. GPA Wisconsin's Milwaukee and Madison adoption operations rely heavily upon Greyhound-savvy families to act as temporary "foster homes" for ex-racers to make the transition to home life while awaiting adoption. Fostering is a very rewarding activity, where the foster family helps a Greyhound explore a home (most have never seen stairs, patio doors and other interesting things), recuperate from spay or neuter surgery, learn good manners, and best of all, learn that the transition to becoming a pet is journey filled with love. It is through this program we are able to allow each adopted Greyhound to join its new family in the best possible condition. GPA Wisconsin's volunteers work closely with each prospective Greyhound owner, matching them with a dog whose personality is most ideally suited to its new home situation to ensure a lasting, rewarding relationship.

We are a non-profit (501c3 status pending) Pit Bull Terrier rescue in Madison, WI. We make regular trips to Rockford, Illinois and Michigan City, Indiana. So approved applicants have many geographic options to see our foster dogs. Our goal is to help as many deserving, homeless Pit Bull Terriers as possible that have been abandoned. We work extensively with Humane Societies and/or Animal Control Facilities in the Upper Midwest to save Pit Bull Terriers.. We want to place them in homes...........not just any home, but the right home for them, where they will be loved and well cared for. We conduct extensive background checks on all potential adopters. These sweet pets are loved and protected by foster parents in their homes with families until they are adopted. The foster family's get to know the pet and help train them and let prospective adoptive parents know about the pet's personalities. We work hard to find the best homes for the pets because they deserve nothing less.............
